Fugly shoes.

Move over, Crocs. Step aside, Uggs. There’s a new Fugly Shoe on the market, and it’ll be tough competition among you as to which is the most hideous trendy footwear.

Fashionable clubbed feet!

The clubbed foot look has never been so fashionable!

Yay! A sneaker that you can’t work out in because of its ridiculous shape! Grandiose claims of benefits that aren’t nearly based in reality! Fuck up your tendons and arches because your feet aren’t bending and stretching properly! And look like you have clubbed feet as well!

I would say the ugliness of the Shape-Ups is the lesser of the evil among the world’s ugliest shoes:

Fuggs

Fuggs

I don’t think there could be a better name for these boots than “Ugg”. Because that’s the first sound I utter when I see such an ugly boot. Ugh. Shapeless, boring, dumpy. Negative 100 points for any outfit that includes these tasteless boots.

When wearing Crocs, you look like this.

When wearing Crocs, you look like this.

I will thankfully never understand the Crocs craze. There is no situation where a cheaply-made, over-priced neon plastic hoof is appropriate. Unless you’re in a stage production of some sort of psychedelic farmer story. Oh, and they’re fucking dangerous.

Don’t give me the “they’re so comfortable!” bullshit. There are plenty of super comfortable shoes, sneakers and boots out there that are not hideous. Sadly, I don’t think any of these eye-sore trends are going anywhere. But damn if I’m not going to give the stink-face to everyone I see wearing them out in public.

I don’t think I’d ever wear Shape-ups. I don’t care whether or not they shape up my feet, there are plenty of other shoes that I KNOW will help my feet while I walk that don’t look so hideous.

All those shoes are craptastic. And I think I heard that the Fuggs give you problems with your feet. Like it messes up your arch, or the pronation of your feet. Something like that.

Anywho, I know someone at work who wears the shape up shoes, and she looks absolutely stupid. I’d never be caught dead wearing those shoes. They’re lame.

LOL I hate all these shoes. There was an article on Yahoo! the other day I believe about the Shape-Ups, and this woman tried out all the different kinds and found that they really don’t do a lot of good. They aren’t designed to help your feet, they’re designed to tone your butt and legs, thighs, etc.

I like Skechers, but by god these shape up shoe things are hideous. Why would anyone want to wear them, uggs or crocs? Words fail me. :|

    I am a hypocrite.

Why? Because I agree with you every step of the way. Except that I actually own a pair of Uggs (turquoise ones that I live in during the winter), and I really wanted a pair of the Nike version of the Shape-Ups.

But I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a sucker for new gimmicks… lol.

I got so upset when I saw those damn Shape-Ups first advertised. They look like the stupidest thing ever! I giggled at how you described them. I am not a fan of them, or uggs, or crocs. They’re all hideous! I don’t understand why people would want to wear any of them!

LOL! I actually tried on a pair of the Shape Ups. They weren’t the sneakers, but these black mesh shoes that looked kind of like Mary Janes. They felt kind-of comfortable, but I had a hard time paying $105 for something I would need to learn *and* practice walking in first. I got the Tone Ups flip-flops instead. They took a little getting used to, but I love them; super comfy and supportive, and nicer looking then the Shape Up sneakers.

Ah thank you thank you! I have finally found someone who shudders at the thought of wearing (or going near one) a pair of Uggs. Same reasons as you listed. And you know it’s ironic, really, because they’re probably the only “tall” boots that would fit my legs (never tried).

As for crocks, until I read on the internets I always thought that only old farmer ladies, in some god-forsaken village are the only ones wearing them. Or well, if it’s in a city, it’s probably said farmer wife who’s been left unattended in the “big city”. Brr.
