TMI alert: I am allergic to birth control pills. I get hardcore hives and it’s a very itchy, miserable mess.
I know there are other options than the pill, but they suck. Nuvaring, condoms, other barriers: hassle. Depo shot: makes you a fatty psycho bitch and fucks up your body. Patch: have to be, like, underweight. Norplant or whatever: ewwww. IUD: have to have already had a kid and/or be over 30 or something. Abortion: some people “frown” on it. Abstinence: fuck that!
What’s a woman supposed to do when she does not want to risk that whole spawning thing, but can’t take the pill? I guess, ah, some of those options above. But seriously, damn. The choices are so sad. If my reaction to the pill wasn’t so severe, I’d just deal with it.
The last time I saw my doctor, she said an IUD might be a possibility*. I guess I’m only a few years away from 30, maybe I’d get a free pass. That does sound like the best option at this point. Fingers crossed!
For now, condoms. No babies! (I think that’s my warcry.)
*FYI, I am in a monogamous relationship. Anything else and you should always, always, always wrap up your naughty bits! Safety first! Herpes is forever!
